Social Skills and Natural Beauty

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Once your natural beauty has been enhanced from the inside out, there’s the question of what to do with it. Most people wouldn’t think about it too much, but how you conduct yourself makes a huge difference in the perception others have of you.

Imagine you’re going out to dinner either on a date or just with some friends. There’s nothing worse than going on a dinner date with someone who’s absolutely gorgeous but has zero table manners! So, it’s worth spending some time with a book about table etiquette. For a basic review, here are some tips that will get you started. First, know ahead of time what sort of restaurant or dining facility you’re about to enter. Some places won’t admit you unless you’re dressed properly, so be ready. Secondly, it’s a good idea to know something about place settings across a variety of cultures. Not everyone does everything the same way, so make it a point to read up or ask someone before attending an ethnic restaurant or gathering. for the American/European dinner table, the setting is usually uniform: forks on the left of the plate, knives and spoons on the right of the plate, bread and dessert plates just ahead of the dinner plate, cups and glasses above the plate and to the right, and napkins either in a glass, folded on the plate, or to the side of forks.

Generally speaking, forks and spoons are laid out according to the course you’re to eat first. So, salad forks and soup spoons will be closer to the outside of the arrangement and dinner forks near the inside. Dessert forks are often served separately. You can also tell salad forks and soup spoons along with other specialized dinner wear because of the temperature. Keeping salad forks cold insures that salad doesn’t warm up before it enters the mouth. Speaking of mouths, always place the napkin on the lap. Only drape it across one knee, this will prevent the napkin from dropping to the floor. Pass items counterclockwise around the table and never reach to the opposite side for any reason. All of these manners will make a difference by making you appear the proper lady or gentleman.

Other social settings require different tactics. An overall rule is to remember to be polite as best as possible. If being blunt is in your nature, that’s fine so long as it’s not tactless. Don’t curse excessively. Be sure to shake hands with as many people as possible, and don’t forget to smile. Network, network, network! You never know who you’ll need to be in contact with, and someone you may have already met may be able to put you in contact with that person. If you’re not feeling well, there are plenty of ways to politely avoid embarrassment. Never be afraid to turn someone down for a gathering if need be. When it comes to cell phones, use them sparingly when in the company of others, particularly at the dinner table or in a class or meeting. Allow people room for self disclosure, but don’t press matters that may make them feel uncomfortable.

All of these are excellent social skills to keep in mind when interacting with others. There are more rules for etiquette, but these basics will certainly enhance your natural beauty.

The Beauty Of Natural Form

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Having recently read an article on plastic surgery, discussing the female quest for a higher beauty level, I was led to reconsider my thoughts on what I deemed as natural, feminine and normal.

According to scientists and scholars worldwide, the contemporary entertainment industry has dramatically altered the way women regard themselves and their bodily characteristics. Western media, in particular, have promoted the human image that appears to be the cultural accepted principle. In fact, even the basic human body characteristics that for centuries have distinguished women from men, like the different genitalia forms, have drawn the attention of plastic surgeons who attempt with their offered procedures to cover women’s needs to resemble a media promoted image. But how come and a specific set of bodily characteristics have become the general rule upon which women base their thinking of what is normal, beautiful or feminine? The answer is twofold.

First, there are those who are mostly responsible for the distribution of this “perfect” icon as being the only accepted facial or body image. Fashion, cosmetic and entertainment industries have during the last centuries ruled the ground upon which people accept or reject the human form. Being tall, thin, luminous, clean, neat, or elegant, are examples of the cultural norms that people feel comfortable accepting as the ideal female image. Perhaps the very fact that most of these characteristics are unattainable for most women has made them become so popular among the masses. Striving to conquer this perfection world has been translated today as the only way for someone to become happy and feel complete or successful. All those women, who have not yet understood the importance of physical perfection or have not tried hard enough to accomplish such a goal, are cached away from society that translates their different form as an abnormality and them as a human failure. As they are doomed to live in this fabricated world of perfection, more and more women today sought out those procedures that can help them regain their self-respect and improve their self-esteem. By selecting the general form of a celebrity, or the specific characteristics of model’s faces and bodies, desperate women enter the plastic surgeons offices all around the world asking to look more like them.

Second, there is society itself. Industry leaders, who are mostly accused of fabricating this feminine perfection image, come from a society that has cultivated its own thinking based on cultural, religious or historical ideals of what should or should not be considered normal, beautiful or feminine. These cultures are constituted by us, people. We are part of what the world believes, about ourselves, and our beliefs go back to the world to determine its future. Whether or not we are happy with the way we look in the mirror is something we should understand that depends more on our own thinking than the glossy magazine pages. It is us who we should blame for fabricating our normal form; to the extent to which this fake form is now the general accepted rule and our horrifying reality.

Banana, Lemon and Honey - Natural Beauty Aids & Tips

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are lots of abundant gifts we can get from herbs, minerals and plants. Nature itself has provided us with unique skin care products. Why prefer the glamour of cosmetic if you can opt for the natural and sincere ways? Let us figure out how these things can be a form of beauty aids.

First is the versatile lemon. This the one that’s golden colored have that property that makes it possible to enhance the look of someone who uses it. Preparation is simple because we will only have to deal this in our own kitchen. Soon you will just be surprised that this can be a beauty regimen.

The reason why lemon is such beneficial because it has enzymes that will cleanse the dead skin cells away. You only have to sprinkle the little alum and the other half of the lemon is needed for skin rubbing. This example among those beauty aids is recommended especially after being through a day filled with pollution.

Second, almost everyone knows the importance of honey so it is of no secret to everyone in the world. Others are using this for health, right? But what other doesn’t know is that it can also be used as natural product for sensitive skin. It will be a good facial scrub. If you are interested with the process, mix a spoon of honey to the ground almonds. The almond that’s finer is better. Its purpose is to exfoliate the skin. Now as for the next process if possible to mix it with lemon juice, it is rather okay. Then massage it to the skin you wanted for improvement. Sooner, there will be additional moisture because of the honey.

Another fact about honey is that it is not purely for skin regimen alone but for hair as well. Just add it to an olive oil make sure that it will only amount the hone to few spoons since you will be applying this daily for better output. The one left for you is already that soft after wash feeling.

Now another advantage is for mouthwash. As almost everybody know that it gives good result for bad breath. But the idea that it stops gum bleedings is quite something new. The reason why that happens is because there are bacterial growths in the mouth.

Thirdly, banana really has lots of nutritional value but aside from that, it also has those effective medicinal properties. Banana as cosmetic can be applicable for dry skin and softening of face muscles.

The three can truly be your beauty aids. One doesn’t have to go all the lengths of purchasing the expensive cosmetic just so because we desire for healthy skin. Remember, it is always nice to opt for the natural ones. At least you can be certain of it’s effectiveness with no possible side effects.

Natural Beauty Home Spa - Rub Stress Away

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Recreate a soothing spa treatment at home by giving your feet (or hands) a stone massage with natural essential oils. Feel free to use oils from your cupboard if that’s what’s available.

Here’s how:

1. Choose your stones.

Gather one large smooth and rounded stone, and eight smaller ones to fit between your toes. Gather stones from your garden or use smooth river stones.

2. Choose an oil.

Lavender and chamomile scents are relaxing. Citrus essential oils, as well as juniper and clary sage, are rejuvenating. If you have sore feet, try using lavender, rosemary, or cypress essential oils. Dilute with a carrier oil such as olive oil. Lavender and tea tree oil are safe to use neat (directly on the skin). Tea tree essential oil is highly antiseptic and antifungal and may be mixed with other essential oils.

3. Set a relaxing ambience.

Light up your favorite candle or play relaxing tunes such as nature sounds.

4. Exfoliate.

Gently exfoliate your feet. Underneath those rough spots and calluses lies smooth skin just waiting to be exposed. Use a foot scrub or a pumice stone. Use the stone firmly but gently. Don’t pumice too hard or too frequently as friction is what causes rough skin in the first place. Use the stone once a week maximum. A pumice stone will last for years.

Warm up a pot of water to about 110 degrees Farenheit to heat the stones. Do not let the water boil. In a warm towel, take the stones to your designated home spa area. Place them between your toes. You can also use a crock pot to warm the stones for more convenience.

Massage the oils into your feet until the foot is covered.

Use the large stone to rub the arch and ball of each foot for up to 10 minutes. Feel the tension melt away. If you’d like, you can warm up the stones again.

Enjoy improving your physical as well as your emotional health at your own natural beauty home spa. You will have better looking feet at a fraction of the cost at a salon.

Natural Beauty for Accessibility Aids

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The reality is that the media and common misconceptions have lowered expectations for people with disabilities. Disabled people often have aids such as canes, crutches, wheelchairs, medical devices, and other technology, it’s important that these devices be well cared for so as to enhance natural beauty.

Mobility aids are items meant to assist a person with some physical activity such as walking. These usually include wheelchairs, walkers, support canes, and canes specifically for navigation by the blind. All of these items need to be cleaned on a regular basis. They need to be as free from nicks as possible. That’s not to say that a few nicks here and there are of much importance. When a cane or wheelchair looks like it’s been through a war, it might be time to give it a make-over or replace it altogether. Most mobility aids such as wheelchairs come with a few replaceable parts, or one can order these parts separately. White canes for the blind need to be relatively nickless. Some canes are made with replaceable reflective tape, and other canes are simply painted white. For canes painted white, one could try using a white marker or a little paint to fix up the nicked spot and make it look nicer. Cane tips are totally replaceable and so are sections of folding and telescopic canes. Walkers with wheels that squeak may need some WD40 to relieve everyone’s ears of the annoyance. Keeping these little things in mind make a huge difference in how disabled people are perceived on a daily basis.

Then there’s the question of service animals. While laws prevent people from discriminating against disabled people on account of service animals, it’s always a good idea to make sure they are well groomed to increase the comfort of those who may be present. It’s also worth noting that groomed animals tend to have better hygiene. Schools meant for service animals and their handlers often include classes on animal care such as brushing, nail clipping, dental hygiene, and medical care. Make sure that all harnesses and leashes are equally cared for, and that there are hygiene bags for use after the dog or animal has been relieved. Besides an animal’s health and the look of mobility aids, there’s also the question of personal health and hygiene.

Many disabled people have conditions that require the use of medical equipment. Always remember to have that equipment on hand at all times in case of emergency or just for daily maintenance. Be sure that all equipment has been cleaned or is cleaned on a daily basis. Any equipment carrying body fluid must be free of leaks as some body fluids aren’t preferable to most noses. To eliminate the problem, it’s not a bad idea to regularly flush the equipment if it’s convenient to do so.

Disabled people, just like anyone else, are capable of natural beauty. Making sure that aids, animals, and medical equipment are clean and cared for add pride and confidence to a person’s appearance. Confidence breeds success, and success breeds true freedom.

Cellulite Be Gone - Natural Beauty

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Cellulite – what is it and how can you get rid of it?

In contrast to natural beauty, cellulite is ugly and it tends to accumulate on thighs, around the knees, on hips and buttocks. Cellulite is the result of abuse more than age, the very opposite of natural beauty which is accomplished by self-awareness and self-care. Cellulite can affect women of normal weight, indeed even thin women are often troubled by cellulite. Cellulite takes time to appear and a long time to repair.

The French, who implied it was a special sort of fat that you must treat in a special way, invented the word cellulite. But cellulite is ordinary fat that is waterlogged. The best way to get rid of it is to promote your natural beauty through diet accompanied by exercise, and by controlling fluid retention.

Cellulite is caused by many things that hinder natural beauty, bad circulation and retention of fluid, the latter being the reason why the skin looks puffy, dimpled and soggy. Cellulite is also a sign of lack of exercise and a diet too full of the sugar and starch carbohydrates. Fighting cellulite is a two-pronged attack because the very things that reduce cellulite enhance natural beauty.

Some doctors believe an excessive secretion of oestradiol (female hormone) causes cellulite and it would seem logical that there could be a counter-balancing treatment. But at present cellulite is helped only by physical means – self-care, natural beauty procedures and salon treatment. Try the following with daily regularity – the only way to get good results, increase your natural beauty and rid yourself of cellulite:

Diet: Cut back on fats, sugars and starches: concentrate on high protein meats, green leafy vegetables, salads and fruit. Eat plenty of cucumber, first and foremost a diuretic food which helps to firm tissues. Every day eat cucumber salad – finely sliced complete with skin and mixed with a little olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and parsley (to counteract the smell of garlic).

Exercise: Walking and swimming are ideal for fighting cellulite, so is bicycling whether the real thing or simulating the movements by lying on your back supporting hips with hands and cycling in the air. Walk around the house doing the goose-step – you’ll feel the inner thigh muscle working hard to keep your leg in a straight line.

Applications: Try massaging anti-cellulite creams into your skin (see below for method) but it is usually the movement more than the cream that aids the area. Ivy is an ingredient in many creams and when used on its own it has a noticeable effect on cellulite. Ground ivy works when crushed and rubbed into the skin or applied as a poultice. You can make a solution by steeping ivy in cold water for twenty-four hours and using it as a wash to bathe the dimpled areas repeatedly.

Friction: The idea is to improve circulation, stepping up the metabolism of the fat cells to break down the cellulite. Pinch your skin through a towel; slap area alternatively with hot and cold sponges or cloths; rub with a loofah or a friction glove made of string, nylon, or rubber nodules; put rough kitchen salt on the glove and vibrate the skin where cellulite collects.

Massage: You must be careful not to over-massage and be too rough with your skin; use an oil, emollient or cellulite cream, and always be sure movements go up in the direction of the heart, never down. Don’t just rub; using both hands wring and twist the flab as though you were squeezing out water; then with fists, iron the skin upwards. For legs, grasp on ankle with both hands, wring and twist up to the knee. For inner thighs, knead, and then iron out. For buttocks, stand sideways about four inches away from a wall; turning slightly hit first one side then the other.

Water: Any force of water against the skin is good – a jet in a swimming pool, a strong shower faucet or a jacuzzi or whirlpool bath; contrasts of hot and cold water help – take a cold shower followed by a hot bath, or force alternate hot and cold blasts from the hand held shower on special areas; nightly warm baths with Epsom salts are recommended.

Treatments: Beauty specialists offer individual methods to get rid of cellulite – wax, mud, steam, water, electrical and enzyme treatments, usually followed by a massage. Aromatherapy also claims to have results with cellulite.
